The Juilliard School announces a new ensemble, the Juilliard Wind Orchestra, which will make its inaugural appearance with conductorMichael Parloff on Sunday, October 12, 2014 at 5 PM in Paul Hall (Juilliard, 155 West 65th Street, NYC). Free tickets are available at events.juilliard.edu.
The 12-15 member ensemble provides additional performance opportunities for students throughout the year, as well as the experience of working on important wind repertoire with master wind players. Upcoming concerts in the series feature Juilliard faculty members, bassoonist Patricia Rogers and clarinetist Charles Neidich, conducting the ensemble.
Michael Parloff, who was principal flutist of the Met Opera Orchestra from 1977-2008, will conduct the opening concert on the series on Sunday, October 12, 2014 at 5 PM in Paul Hall at Juilliard. The program includes Strauss’s Serenade in E-flat Major for 13 Winds, Op. 7; Gounod’s Petite Symphonie; Stravinsky’s Octet; and Mozart’s Serenade in C Minor, K. 388.
